Zi-Yang Turns Two
Here’s my son, Zi-Yang, on his 2nd birthday (today, Christmas Day 2007):

Yep, he was born on this day 2 years ago.
Yep, the good old doctor had to drag himself to the hospital for the delivery. Zi-Yang wasn’t expected that day.
Me thinks he’s the cutest kid in the world.
Me also thinks he’ll probably be the naughtiest kid in the world, who wants to stay awake for as long as possible to play, play and just play.
He loves cellphones, steering wheels and Richard Scarry’s cartoons – and can’t get enough of them.
I’m not sure, but I think he’s some kind of a whiz kid as he managed to add his own picture and some numbers to my cellphone address book, positioning himself as the No.1 contact there – when he was 12 months old.

I can’t even add any photos of my contacts to my cellphone address book on my own – and I consider myself quite savvy with gadgets – so this is quite a feat!
He has also fixed the speakers on my laptop by tapping on the keyboard at random (at least, it appeard to me to be so). I’ve tried every button, every key and every volume control there is on my hardware and the software that controls the speakers to increase their volume level for months (the volume level’s kinda soft, just barely noticeable), but to no avail.
Then I caught him typing on my keyboard one day and lo and behold – my speakers’ volume became normal and I can now listen to music and audio without having to plug in a headset!
His transition from baby to toddler is quite astonishing to watch and experience.

Like all kids, he picks up lots of stuff from TV and from watching us adults interact with each other.
However, I’m steering him clear from that ugly purple dinosaur called Barney and those silly Teletubbies characters doing brainless stuff on TV.

He should be watching more of the Little Einsteins cartoons that feature snippets of famous classical music by famous composers of the past because not only does he enjoy them, I do too as they bring back memories of my brothers playing classical music on the piano during my childhood…
Anyway…yeah…I’m a proud father.
He calls me “Papa”.
LOUDLY.
You can hear him call me from a mile away.

It’s one of the most beautiful sounds I’ve ever heard.
Merry Christmas everybody.
I’ll try to put up some photos and videos of The Life Changing Party before the new Year arrives.
Cheers!
